West Jakarta Satpol PP Distributes Masks to Motorists

Personnel and ranks of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the West Jakarta City Satpol PP Sub Unit, Monday (9/7), distributed free masks to residents and motorists on a number of roads.

Distributing 9,000 masks

Head of West Jakarta Satpol PP, Herry Purnama, said the distribution of masks was a follow-up to Governor Pramono Anung's directive regarding the development of Mount Anak Krakatau's eruptive activity and the impact of the spread of volcanic ash that has the potential to affect a number of areas, including Jakarta.

"Today, we began distributing 9,000 masks in stages. This was carried out in collaboration with the West Jakarta Satpol PP's DWP Sub-Unit personnel at several locations," he said.

He explained that the activities were carried out at the Ring Road traffic lights, Puri Market traffic lights, Kalideres Terminal, Jalan Puri Indah Raya, Jalan Puri Kembangan Raya and Jalan Puri Asri, as well as a number of roads in eight districts.

"We target drivers and residents who are active outdoors," he explained.

Herry hopes that the distribution of free masks will help drivers and residents who are active in open spaces remain protected from the impact of the spread of volcanic ash.

According to Herry, the Jakarta Provincial Government is currently coordinating with the Central Government, BMKG, and related agencies to monitor the development and movement of volcanic ash from Anak Krakatau.

He appealed to the public not to panic, but to remain alert if their residential areas begin to be affected by volcanic ash.

"Let's remain vigilant and protect ourselves and our families. Together, let's protect Jakarta by protecting ourselves from the impacts of volcanic ash," he appealed.
